O události

Dear readers,

We would like to invite you to a workshop on the topic "Problems with the application of the principle of equality and non-discrimination", which will take place on 5 May at 9:00 a.m. in room 38 of the PFUK building.

The workshop will be dedicated to one of the most topical human rights issues of today, namely the functioning of anti-discrimination legislation in the Czech Republic. The low number of anti-discrimination lawsuits and their high failure rate do not give an objective overview of unequal treatment in Czech society. Rather, they suggest the existence of systemic problems with the application of the principle of equality and non-discrimination. Do these problems have their origin in the courts' approach to adjudicating the prohibition of discrimination? Are Czech courts afraid of the word "discrimination"? Is there a need for a change in jurisprudential approaches or a change in legislation? And how do these problems manifest themselves in the field of social rights and employment?

Zdeněk Kühn, Martin Šmíd, Kristina Koldinská and Monika Hanych will seek answers to these and many related questions in their contributions and discussion.

We hope you will find the time and we look forward to seeing you.
