Invitation to a lecture on Women's Suffering During Uyghur Genocide on Human Rights Day ⚖️

The Centre for Constitutionalism and Human Rights in collaboration with the Forum for Human Rights invites you to a lecture on the topic Women's Suffering During Uyghur Genocide, organized in observance of Human Rights Day on December 10.

The lecture will feature two survivors of concentration camps in China, where countless members of the Uyghur minority continue to be imprisoned.

Mihrigul Tursun (online) has been arrested by Chinese authorities multiple times and spent months in detention, where she endured physical and psychological torture and abuse. Her imprisonment also prevented her from saying goodbye to her deceased son. After sharing her harrowing experiences on international platforms, she has become a globally recognized voice drawing attention to the genocide perpetrated by the Chinese regime, which continues to affect millions of people.

Kalbinur Sidik comes from Ürümqi, the capital of East Turkestan and the Uyghur Autonomous Region of Xinjiang. Originally a Chinese language teacher at a local elementary school, she was detained in 2017 and placed in a concentration camp, where she was forced to teach and re-educate other detained members of the Uyghur minority in Mandarin. Kalbinur witnessed torture, sexual abuse, and other violence against imprisoned Uyghurs. She has testified about her experiences before the Uyghur Tribunal in London, which in 2021 concluded, among other findings, that China is committing genocide against Uyghurs.

This lecture on a highly topical issue will take place on December 9, 2024, at 6:00 PM in Room No. 117, Faculty of Law, Charles University.

We look forward to seeing you there! 💙
