On Thursday, May 2, 2024, a public lecture titled Understanding EU Competences: Lessons from Federal Constitutionalism" took place at the Faculty of Law, Charles University. The lecturer, doc. dr. sc. Nika Bačić Selanec, who serves as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb in Croatia, guided us through the fascinating world of European law. The lecture focused on the division of powers between EU institutions, the theory and history of dual and federal constitutionalism, the primacy of EU law, and the concept of ultra vires. The discussion included the dynamics of competences between the EU and its member states, with an emphasis on recent case law of the Court of Justice of the EU and the federal nature of power transfers.
We would like to thank everyone who attended the lecture for their interest and active participation. In particular, we would like to thank doc. dr. sc.
