Dear readers,
We would like to invite you to the second course of lectures organized by the Centre for Constitutionalism and Human Rights at the Department of Constitutional Law of the Charles University. This time we will focus on current issues related to the protection of human rights and the rule of law at the level of the European Union.
The second lecture in this series "Human Rights and the Rule of Law as Pillars of the EU" will be given by Associate Professor Darinka Piqani on the topic 'National Identity in the EU Legal Order'. The lecture will take place on 25 November at 10:00 in room 117 of the Law Faculty of Charles University. She will address a number of highly topical issues such as the content and function of national identity in the EU constitutional system, its influence on political deliberation, as well as related debates related to the protection of the rule of law and human rights in our European space.
Darinka Piqani is a long-time associate professor at Leiden University and a member of the Centre for Constitutionalism and Human Rights. Her research focuses on national identities and their relationship to the EU and the protection of human rights in the EU.
We would already like to take this opportunity to inform you that the third lecture in this series will take place on 28 November at 18:00 in room 220 (PF UK). During the lecture you will have the opportunity to meet some Polish judges who have been removed from their posts through political interference in the independence of the judiciary. We will inform you soon about the details of this last lecture.
