O události

Dear readers,

We would like to invite you to the second course of lectures organized by the Centre for Constitutionalism and Human Rights at the Department of Constitutional Law of the Charles University. This time we will focus on current issues related to the protection of human rights and the rule of law at the level of the European Union.

The first lecture in this series "Human Rights and the Rule of Law as Pillars of the EU" will be presented by Prof. Moritz Jesse with the topic 'The Future of Citizenship and EU Free Movement'. He will address a number of highly topical issues such as the impact of the pandemic and the Ukraine crisis on freedom of movement in the EU and the transformation of the functioning of European citizenship today. The lecture will take place on 16 November at 14:00 in room 117 of the Law Faculty building.

Moritz Jesse is a professor at Leiden University and a member of the Centre for Constitutionalism and Human Rights. His research focuses on European constitutionalism, European citizenship, free movement of persons and migration and asylum law.

We would already like to take this opportunity to inform you that the second lecture in this series will take place on Friday 25 November at 10:00 in room 117. The lecture will be given by Assoc. Darinka Piqani on the topic 'National Identity in the EU Legal Order'. The last meeting will take place on 28 November in the afternoon. You will have the opportunity to meet Polish judges who have been removed from office through political interference in the independence of the judiciary. We will inform you soon about the details of both lectures.

We hope that you will find the time, and we look forward to seeing you.
